A few months ago, my husband and I embarked on a journey that turned out to be one of the most rejuvenating and eye-opening experiences we've ever had. We had the incredible opportunity to attend a conference in the stunning coastal paradise of Cancun, Mexico, and what made it even more special was that we decided to turn it into a pre-and-post-conference adventure. While the entire trip was a whirlwind of excitement, it was the post-conference, all-inclusive adults-only experience that left an indelible mark on our hearts.
As parents, it's a rare luxury to have an entire week without our kids in tow. We love them dearly, but the demands of parenthood can sometimes leave us craving some uninterrupted quality time together. Our adults-only escape to Cancun promised just that, and little did we know how much it would reignite our love for each other and rekindle our appreciation for our roles as parents. Here are a few journal entries I have from the adventure.
Have you ever visited someplace that you cannot stop thinking about? I have been a lot of places, just like my fellow #eventprofs out there. But there was something about this place that just took my breath away. I felt like I was transported to my place of peace and calm and not to mention the 5 star amenities. I was on a post FAM trip coming off of WEC hosted by Meeting Professionals International - MPI In #cancunmexico. The conference had wore me out and I was looking forward to some relaxation, but also knew that participating In the FAM was a must. The day did start out a bit prolonged as we waited for our group to lad the bus for transport, but once we got to our destination, all the stress went away. We exited the bus and looked around like a child on their first day of school, a little excited and a little of the unknown. We were greeted by cold towels (thank goodness as It was so hot In Mexico) and paletas by staff who looked like they were monks. I think there were at least two staff to each of us. The group was walked to our VIP check In room where we were able to enjoy the amenities of the resort as they prepared our room. I was so lucky to have my husband on this adventure with me. As usual, he asked for the bar. A staff monk walked us up to the rooftop pool where he arranged a daybed, got some sunscreen and guided me to a place to change Into my bathing suit as well as took my drink order. When I returned, drink was In my hand and made my way Into the Infinity pool at 7 stories upon a hill overlooking the blue ocean. Breath taken away.... The three hour wait was filled with fruity beverages, the most fresh guacamole and chips and an unexpected amenity - poolside aloe face treatment. This refreshing mixture of aloe gel, cucumbers on the eyes and a cold fresh towel face massage, refreshed us for the evening ahead. Show me my Room
I've been eager to experience this resort for a while now. After engaging with the sales rep at several conferences and having to pass up two previous invites, the wait was finally over!
Following a relaxing three-hour poolside stint, we checked if our room at Hotel Xcaret Arte was ready. Delightfully, we were upgraded! The resort's unique hillside structure and countless stairs made each turn an exciting surprise.
Our room keys were wrist bands - how cool is that? Walking into our room, we were greeted with soothing background music and a gorgeous view from the sliding glass door. Our room was a swim-out with a hammock and lush greenery for seclusion.
The room was spacious, with the king-sized bed facing the outdoors. Our mini-bar was stocked with water in glass containers and healthy snacks. The bathroom boasted a massive whirlpool tub and a family-sized shower. The resort truly epitomized luxury in every detail. After calling for our luggage, we had a quick snack and enjoyed the pool just outside our room.
We then decided to explore the property, marveling at our stunning surroundings. Our section was right above another swim-out pool bar next to a lagoon, perfect for paddle boarding, swimming or just unwinding. The center of the resort offered incredible ocean views, private beaches and cosy hammock lounges.
As we headed back, we checked out the buffet by the main pool. The tantalizing aroma of Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood was irresistible. Each station showcased local favorites and international delicacies. Little did we know, there was another side to the resort featuring more amazing restaurants!
Returning to the room, we prepared for the site tour and dinner, eager to experience everything the resort had to offer. I still dream about this room!
